3 Certifications for Technicians – General Industry and Career Education

While there are a multitude of different industries for technicians to work for today, from engineering and construction to manufacturing and information technology professionals, earning a certification in an area of specialty is often the pathway to long-term career success. There are three certifications that can benefit any technician, regardless of background or experience level that raise the bar. As a professional technician, consider earning one or more of the following certifications.

  1. Safety Manager Training Certification – National Association of Safety Professionals

Earning the Safety Manager Training (SMT) certification can help you to advance in any career as a technician. Delivered in a self-study, online training program, you can learn as you earn in your chosen industry. Workplace safety has become a major concern in every workplace, especially in terms of reducing injuries and incidents like violence at work. The SMT gives you the insight to spot potential safety issues before they cause problems for you and others.

The course includes up to 40 hours of independent study, with various assignments to complete. You’ll become more aware of safety on job sites, how to conduct safety audits and training, how to understand and apply OSHA guidelines, and make your workplace safer.

  1. Comp TIA A+ Certification for IT and Technology Technicians
